Report the keywords that moved, not the whole ranking table

Mitra checks your tracked keywords in Ahrefs every Monday at 7am and compares each position against the week before. The gainers and the losers are logged in Google Sheets and posted to Slack, each with the page that ranks for it. Keywords that held their position are left out.

What the agent actually does.

  1. Read this week's positions

The agent reads the current position for every keyword you track, with the URL ranking for each one.

  2. Compare with last week

Last week's row in your sheet is the baseline, so each keyword arrives with a direction and a number of places.

  3. Log the week

The new positions are appended to the sheet, which keeps the history that makes next Monday's comparison possible.

  4. Post only what moved

Keywords that gained or lost places go to Slack in two groups, and one that sat still stays in the sheet.

  5. Name the pages behind the moves

Every keyword carries its ranking URL, so the post shows which pages gained and which slipped.

Make it yours.

For marketers who track keywords for a living and do not need to reread the whole table every Monday. Change any of this by saying so — there is nothing to rewire.

  • Include the previous four weeks, so a slow drift down is visible too.
  • Read positions from Semrush or Google Search Console instead.
  • Email the movers to the content lead and skip Slack entirely.

Questions, answered.

How do I get a weekly keyword ranking report without reading the whole table?
Tell Mitra to post only the keywords whose position changed, and the agent leaves the rest in the sheet. Mitra still logs every position each week, so the history stays complete while the Slack post stays short. Ask for the ten biggest movers instead and the next run obeys.
Can the report show which pages caused the ranking change?
Yes. Mitra reads the ranking URL alongside each keyword, so every mover in the post names the page behind it, and grouping by page shows whether one article lost several keywords at once. Mitra reports what the positions say and leaves the diagnosis to you.
