Code review nudges that go to the reviewer, not the channel

Mitra chases stale code reviews for you. Each weekday at 11am the agent lists the pull requests that have waited more than a day for a review. It sends each assigned reviewer a direct Slack message, oldest first, and nobody else gets pinged.

What the agent actually does.

  1. List the open pull requests

The agent reads every open pull request, with its reviewers and the time since review was requested.

  2. Keep the ones past a day

Anything reviewed, closed or requested less than a day ago drops out, and drafts are left alone.

  3. Sort oldest first

The pull request that has waited longest goes first, so the queue drains from the back.

  4. Message each reviewer

Every reviewer gets one Slack message naming their pull request, its author and how long it has sat.

Make it yours.

For teams where review is the slowest part of shipping, and the only nudge is somebody asking in the channel again. Change any of this by saying so — there is nothing to rewire.

  • Post one grouped list in the team channel instead of messaging people.
  • Escalate to the author's lead after three days.
  • Skip pull requests marked as draft or labeled low priority.

Questions, answered.

How do I stop pull requests sitting unreviewed for days?
Mitra checks GitHub every weekday and messages the assigned reviewer once a pull request passes the age you set. Reviews slip because nobody owns the reminder, so the agent owns it. You can read back which nudges went out on each run.
Will an automated reminder annoy my team?
That depends on how loud the reminder is, and Mitra keeps the volume low. The nudge is one direct message to the person who owes the review, not a broadcast to the team channel. Teams that dislike direct messages can have the agent post one grouped list.
